The Department of Petroleum Refinery Engineering focuses on the science and engineering of transforming crude oil into fuels, lubricants, and petrochemical feedstocks. Students study process design, unit operations, plant safety, and quality control — gaining the knowledge required to operate and improve Iraq's refining infrastructure.

As Iraq seeks to add value to its vast petroleum resources through domestic processing, the demand for skilled refinery engineers has never been greater. Our graduates are prepared to design, operate, and optimise the refinery systems that convert raw oil into the products that power the modern world.
